I’m Allison—the Idaho rancher’s wife, mom, and writer behind The Idaho Rancher’s Wife.
I live in southeastern Idaho with my husband, our four kids, and a herd of cattle that has a way of keeping all of us humble. I grew up around ranching, but becoming a rancher’s wife taught me that loving this life and actually living it are two very different things.
Ranch life is messy, beautiful, exhausting, funny, and rarely goes according to plan. But it’s also full of stories worth telling—stories about hard work, family, faith, resilience, raising kids, and the animals and land that depend on us.
That’s what I hope to do here: tell honest stories from our life on the ranch in a way that helps you understand and connect with a world you may not have grown up knowing. Sometimes you’ll find cattle and muddy boots. Sometimes motherhood, marriage, or faith. Sometimes a funny story from an ordinary Tuesday. And sometimes a little lesson that ranch life taught me when I wasn’t expecting one.
I don’t have ranch life figured out. I’m just paying attention to it—and sharing the stories that help explain why this life matters.
